Finally Training

Well I finally get to update on my injury.

I went to my Dr for another follow up. He finally told me what i have wanted to hear for the last 5 months. I can ride my bike! The first 3 rides hurt! I guess it was due to the fact that my butt is not used to the saddle. I wanted to test myself and see where I stood against all the studs in the N Texas area. I jumped in the A race at the local crit last tuesday. These guys either have gotten faster or I just felt the speed (out of shape) They avg 27 for a little under 60min. I stayed in the entire race and was able to be part of the race not just be in the race, which was great! They had a break of about 5 with 4 to go and nobody really wanted to chase. Well since I was out there to get a quick test and not race I went to the front and gave it my last hard effort and brought the break back. My buddy Austin wasn't to happy but hey this is training. I pulled out of it with 1 lap and a half to go. Forturnately I was not part of the crash that happened on the sprint for like 10 place.

I can't wait to get some sort of fitness back but I have to be happy to be able to get out and ride for now. I'm 5 months down on everyone and I can't make excuses I'm a cat 1 so I have to suck it up.

Until the next lesson

Training - or attempt of

Well I started trainig yesterday. Actually not really training but lifting weights. Finally after a long time of just resting I have gone back to the gym. First day is always fun. This will probably last for only 3 weeks. I have another surgery to go and will be back were I have felt most comfortable, yes my bed (atleast for a week to a week and a half).

Thats all for now - stay warm.

Light Duty

Well after having my first surgery of 2 and taking time to recover I have finally gone back to work. Yay! It's about time I started doing something. I don't know how some people can live without a job. It's a hard thing to do and I'm not cut out for it. My job consists of following up on new buildings, getting contact info (copies of blueprints), inspecting. The other part is giving flu shots, Hep A and Hep B shots, TB testing, reading ECG and checking BP's.

I had my follow up and Dr. Hopkins said everything looks great (as great as it can get with a foreign object in your shoulder) Surgery numero 2 will be coming up soon, hopefully the last week of February . Dr still doesn't recommend getting on the bike. It is pretty hard listening to him when you have 80 degree weather in Jan. Then again i don't want to run the risk of falling on my right shoulder and screwing up my metal plate. I hope I can come back in May. Just in time to get a beating in the local races!

Crit Racing

Well since i won't be allowed to race until April, I try to do anything I can to stay motivated. My last Dr. visit my ortho was upset with me trying to get on the trainer. He reminded me my deltoid is still not attached and any stress on it can injure it more. I keep forgetting that its not only my clavicle but also the deltoid that I messed up.

I was surfing the web TXBRA and saw that the Matrix Challenge next year just happens to be the same time as AthensTwilightCrit I think anyone that races in the US needs to try the Twilight Crit in Athens GA atleast ones! I've done it the last two years and it is one of the biggest races due to the fans/music/racers/venue it just an awesome crit.

I just hope my next follow up in Jan my ortho lets me get on the trainer. I'm going crazy not being able to wkout or atleast he will let me get back to work.
